Welcome
Michigan’s
Conservation Districts are “unique” local units of State Government.
The guiding philosophy of all
Conservation Districts is that decisions on conservation issues should
be made at the local level, by local people, with technical assistance
provided by the government. Though Conservation Districts are local
units of state government, they are not funded by state dollars alone;
therefore, Districts must seek funds from other public and private
sources, charge for some services, and establish partnerships with
local entities and individuals to achieve mutual goals for needed
services.
Antrim Conservation District History
The
Antrim Conservation District was formed May 25, 1944. It was created by
local farmers to conserve, improve, and maintain Antrim's
soil, and to promote efficient and economical use of the
land. Today the mission of the Antrim Conservation District is to
continue to
promote the exploration and conservation of Antrim County's natural
resources. Our
district has incorporated technical programs and services to enhance
and compliment an ever-changing environment.
